African American Librarians and Library Employees Round Table The purpose of the round table is to address the low number of African American library employees and students, the exodus of African American librarians from Kentucky [over 70% loss since 1980 and we are still losing], low organization participation on the state level, and the need for support, networking, and mentoring, and a sense of awareness. Support Staff Round Table Library staff are encouraged to join KLA and the Support Staff Round Table. Your KLA membership includes: membership in one section of your choice (Academic, Public, Special, School Media, Children and Young Adults, or Trustees), membership in one round table (Support Staff Round Table, Government Documents, Interlibrary Loan, Community College, Library Instruction, Information & Technology, Genealogy, Administration & Management, Library and School Partnership), a subscription to the KLA journal Kentucky Libraries and the KLA newsletter IN-FO-CUS. You will receive all association mailings, mailings from your section and round table, and you will pay the member rate to attend KLA conferences and workshops. Staff may join more sections and round tables for an additional $7.00 per section and $5.00 per round table. Librarians are also welcome and encouraged to join this round table! |
